Riot Compensation Scheme: Support for Those Affected by Recent Riots

by | Sep 2, 2024 | Blog | 0 comments

At The Hub, we understand the profound impact that recent events, such as the riots on 30th July and 3rd August, can have on individuals and communities. Whether it’s your home or business that has been affected, we want to ensure that you have access to the support and resources necessary to recover.

The Police and Crime Commissioner is encouraging those affected by the riots to apply for compensation through a dedicated scheme. This initiative is in place to help those who have experienced damage or loss as a direct result of the disturbances.

Eligibility and How to Claim

If you were affected by the riots, here’s how you can qualify for compensation:

Crime Reporting: The damage or loss must be reported to the police. Upon doing so, you will be provided with a crime reference number, which is required for your claim.

Timeframe: Claims need to be submitted within 43 days of the riot. If you have made an insurance claim and your insurer informs you that you are not fully covered, you will have 43 days from that notification date to file your compensation claim.

Coverage: Please note that the Riot Compensation Scheme does not extend to personal items, loss of trade or rent, or personal injuries. It is focused on compensating for damage to property and business assets.
